Yeah, Kevin Gregg. You are a waste of talent that we traded away for because of Kerry Wood wasn’t resigned. They have to sit your *** because of your knee. They didn’t sign WOODY because they didn’t want a long deal. (Bet you’re re-thinking that decision—as I am by the way–Mr. Hendry.)

Lou didn’t managed this game for ****. The minute Gregg gave up the home run, you should have had someone tossing in the bullpen. That way if he gave up another hit or a home run you could have yanked Gregg’s butt and throw him into the dugout. And after that third hit, I definitely would have yanked him by the shirt collar.

Heilman came out and did what he had to do to keep it from going completely out of control. And if it wasn’t for a bad throw…

Well.. just be thankful that’s still only a 1/2 game and not a game like it could have been.

My sympathies to Adenhart’s friends, family and teammates.

Terrible news out of California this morning, where we’ve just learned that the Angels rookie Nick Adenhart was killed in an early morning hit-and-run accident in Fullerton on Thursday.

The news was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by Yahoo! Sports baseball columnist Tim Brown.

Just 22 years old, Adenhart started for Los Angeles on Wednesday night and struck out five batters over six scoreless innings in a 6-4 loss to Oakland. It was only the fourth start of his young career and first since earning the third spot in the Angels’ rotation over spring training.

According to reports, Adenhart was driving home with three others in his silver Mitsubishi when a mini-van ran through a red light and hit Adenhart’s car, causing it to crash into a light pole. A female driver and male passenger died on the scene while Adenhart was taken to the hospital where he died undergoing surgery, according to a spokesman from the UC-Irvine Medical Center. The driver of the mini-van fled the scene, but was later apprehended by police. No other members of the Angels’ organization were involved.

This is the most tragic news you can imagine in the baseball world and our thoughts go out to Adenhart’s family and the entire Angels’ organization, which was already reeling from the death of a fan who was involved in a fight on Opening Day.

Milton Bradley, Kosuke Fukodome and Derek Lee went 0-for-4. Alfonso Soriano connected lead-off home run number 50. Aramis Ramirez also hit a solo shot.  One of the not-so-big surprises was Mike Fontenot who went 3 for 4 and scoring twice.

New closer Kevin Gregg got the save after giving up a run in the bottom of the nineth.

Olson will get some starts in the spring with the possibility of becoming the fith starter in the Cub’s organization.

The move on Pie was in part because he was out of options if he didn’t make the team during spring training.

On Wednesday, Cubs GM Jim Hendry made it clear that the team will not wait for Pie and Hill to figure out how to play in the big leagues.

With the addition of Joey Gaithright, Pie’s days are numbered as a Cub.

Now, reports out of Chicago are that the Cubs have signed Milton Bradley to a three-year, $30 millon deal pending a medical check up.

The Cubs website is also reporting that the deal to send to Jason Marquis to the Rockies for Luis Vizcaino will probably be finalized on Tuesday.

This is the way I look at it: you need to build your team according to your needs. You have Ryan Theriot and Mike Fontenot who can play third and second. If you keep Cedeno, that allows you to give Theriot and Fontenot and day off. The outfield situation is a bit more precarious. You need a lefty bat in the outfield. It looks like the Cubs have set their sights on Milton Bradley. (They were also looking at him last year before they signed Fukudome.)

Hitting alone won’t get you to the World Series. The still have a weak spot in the rotation with Jason Marquis and never knowing which one is going to show up that game. You need another starting. Peavey is a good match and he wants to come Chicago and play in Chicago. Unlike Marquis who moaned and groaned all last season about playing in Chicago.

In order to get Peavy, they’re going to possibly have to give up their #1 draft pick from 2007–Josh Vitters, among other players (one of whom is Felix Pie).

In my book, it’s a good trade.

I am disappointed at the exit, but not surprised. Not the least bit. Last year, the Cubs hit something like .149. This year, slightly better. But still, only a handful of runs. I think it’s a combined 12 for the six games. It’s a huge disappointment to a club who got it down with clutch hitting.

Note to Lou:

Next year, do not rest your freaking players. Next year, if Sori is batting .091, you put him in the back of the line up. Next year, unless Kosuke is hitting, you don’t put him in the freaking game.
